Give your iPhone a sonic boost

Give your iPhone a sonic boost It's a Bone Horn Stand, if you must know

We tend to take for granted that gadgets are electronic and require their own power supply. But here’s one that doesn’t: the Bone Horn Stand, an unpowered iPhone amplifier.

If the look is vaguely familiar that’s because this iPhone accessory uses the same principles found on those old gramophone players of years gone by: the trumpet-like tube adds 12 decibels of sound pressure to the iPhone’s speakers, according to the Bone Horn Stand’s makers.

And as the somewhat dubious-sounding name suggests, this add-on functions as a stand too, able to support the iPhone in both horizontal and vertical orientations. When fitted, a rubber transfer button means you can still access the iPhone’s concealed Home button underneath.

It’s worth mentioning again that there’s no battery or mini-USB port in sight, just old-fashioned sonic cleverness. The iPhone 4-only Bone Horn Stand can be yours for $25 plus postage from the US.
