Getting a PS4? No Titanfall for you
Next-gen is nearly here! We’re fast approaching the time when gamers need to make a choice, but news out of EA this week may help you make up your mind. It’s just been revealed that the stunning Titanfall, from the creator of Modern Warfare, will be an Xbox One exclusive. Permanently. Which side are you on now?
Speaking on a conference call, EA finance boss Blake Jorgensen confirmed that Titanfall, which was originally expected to be a timed-exclusive on Xbox One, will be a flat out exclusive for the platform, meaning we will never see a version on Sony PS4. Vince Zampella, the founder of developer Respawn Entertainment, later confirmed the news, hinting that he too was unhappy with the publisher’s decision:
Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(— Vince Zampella (@VinceZampella) October 29, 2013
Titanfall, a mech-based shooter, stunned audiences at E3 this summer, and could prove a major hit when it launches in March next year. Unusually, the game uses Microsoft’s cloud servers to compute as well as your console, meaning it should eke every last drop of power out of the Xbox One. The exclusivity deal is good for Microsoft fans looking for a reason to upgrade to the pricer Xbox One, but a blow for PS4 fans and gamers in general, tired of behind-the-scenes deals stopping titles from hitting their platform of choice. Will Titanfall benefit from EA’s move? Check the trailer and tell us what you think in the comments below.
