Gears of War: Judgment launch date announced!

Circle March 2013 in your calendars, Gears of War fans. That’s when the new Gears of War: Judgment game will be hitting the shops, developer Epic Games has confirmed. Gears of War: Judgment is a prequel to the previous three Gears games, shedding more light on the backstory behind soldier Damon Baird.

Confirmation of that release date comes from X-Play’s Twitter account after an interview with Epic Games director Rod Ferguson.

“You heard it here!” The account said. “Gears of War Judgment will be released in March… But @GearsViking won’t let us say more yet.”

The initial announcement of the game came as a pleasant surprise to Gears of War fans, but far from being just another sequel, it will be set before the original Gears of War trilogy, focus on the story of the ‘Kilo Squad’ – a group of soldiers led by Baird and Augustus ‘The Cole Train’ Cole and delve deeper into the Gears of War backstory.

Changes to the series will include a faster style of combat, a new spawn system that changes the location of enemies with each restart, a new objective and class-based multiplayer mode that pits together Locusts and COG soldiers in head-to-head battles.

Will you be picking up Gears of War Judgment? What are you hoping to see in the prequel? Let us know.
