Fujifilm SL240 packs super zoom skills on a budget

The Fujifilm SL240 has touched down in officialdom today, and for the £199 asking pricetag, it’s quite the mighty snapper, packing in the skills of many a more expensive bridge camera. So what bang do you get for your buck?

The Fujifilm SL240 squeezes in an impressively large 14-megapixel sensor that can also film sharp 720p resolution high definition video. Around the back, there’s a 3-inch LCD screen to check out your shots, while Dual Image Stabilization promises to keep the output of even the shakiest hands looking clean and crisp.

But the real selling point is undoubtedly the super zoom: the Fujifilm SL240’s 24x optical zoom means you can swoop in for serious detail from afar, but without the hassle and expense of a pricey DSLR and extra telescopic lenses.

Alongside the Fujifilm SL240, Fujifilm has outed an even more affordable sibling. For £149, the Fujifilm SL4200 packs in the same 24x zoom with 24mm wide angle lens as the SL240, and 14 megapixel sensor. In fact, the only real difference is that it’s AA battery powered – which could prove handy if you’re heading off on a long trip abroad.

Both the Fujifilm SL240 and SL4200 are available now in red, black or white.
