Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 heading to Nintendo Wii U

Quite why Nintendo kept this exciting bit of news secret is a mystery, but it looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 may be heading to the Nintendo Wii U. Scans from a Nintendo magazine have revealed what appears to be a preview of a Wii U version of the shooter. However, a Wii U version has yet to be officially confirmed. So what’s going on?

Pictures of the alleged Wii U version first appeared on Twitter via Daily Joypad, showing a one-page preview from magazine Nintendo Gamer. The page clearly marks Black Ops 2 as a Wii U game.

E3 2012: best games from the show

Black Ops 2 has officially been confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, but not yet for Wii U. It’s the kind of news that, given the popularity of the series, Nintendo should have been shouting about during E3 2012.

It could be that Nintendo was saving the news for later, but whatever happens, it looks like Nintendo fans can be pleased that Black Ops 2 will be heading to Nintendo’s new console after all.

Interestingly the preview mentions little in the way of Wii U-specific gameplay details. We’ll just have to wait till Activision officially announces it to hear about how the Wii U version will be different from the others.

We imagine being able to control and co-ordinate airstrikes from the touchscreen Gamepad controller. Who knows what else. We can’t wait to find out.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (if it does appear on the console) will be one of many promised third-party games for Wii U, including Assassin’s Creed 3 and the new Batman Arkham City: Armoured Edition with Wii U-specific controllers, letting players steer Batman’s Batarang projectiles by tilting the Wii U GamePad.

The Nintendo Wii U launches just before Christmas. An exact date has yet to be confirmed, but we’ll be among the first to let you know when you can get your hands on it. In the meantime keep an eye out for our Nintendo Wii U coverage.

t

Its a dying series to be overtaken by battefield. Have you seen the gameplay. Who wants to just turn left and right in a plane. The story line is too planned out. Its now a lazy man's game. Which isn't fun since nothing new happens
