British Library launches its own app Discover some rare literary treasures...

The British Library has released its first app for smartphone and tablet users.

Available for iPhone, iPad and Android users, the British Library’s Treasures app makes some of the library’s rare and most unique printed works available in digital form for the first time.

Some of the prized texts mobile users can get their hands on include the first edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks and the world’s oldest bible the Codex Sinaiticus.

In bringing the treasured items into the digital realm, the British Library has included expert commentary on many of the items, such as explorer Ben Fogle talking about Scott’s Diary, or linguist David Crystal discussing ancient poem Beowulf.

Treasures will be available to download for £2.39 for iPhone and Android smartphone users, or £3.49 in HD for iPad users. However, until January 24 the app will cost just £1.29 and £2.39 respectively.

Great app to be educated from but the only downside I can see is , that the app should be free to download , after it is FREE to enter the British Library to see all these things.
