Bethesda’s Dishonored arriving October 12

Bethesda Softworks, publisher of Fallout and the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has announced that its latest game, Dishonored will be released on October 12, 2012. The assassination-themed game was recently shown off in a trailer that has already caught the imagination, with critics describing it as a cross between Assassin’s Creed and BioShock.

Dishonored for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC takes place in Dunwall, in a muggy-looking industrial city where steampunk-like technology and mysterious forces coexist. Players take on the role of Corvo, a once-trusted bodyguard of the murdered Empress.

Corvo has been framed, and becomes an assassin, equipped with a mask and supernatural abilities, one of which, according to a recent trailer is the ability to freeze time while you shoot enemies.

Firearms, melee combat and supernatural abilities all form a combat system that promises to be both creative and a lot of fun. From the sounds of things, it looks like there will be lots of sneaking around, Assassin’s Creed style.

“Pursue your targets under the cover of darkness or boldly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.” Dishonored will be playable at E3 2012, said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks.

“We are looking forward to sharing lots more information about the game leading up to its launch in October, and having a hands-on build of Dishonored in our booth at E3!” We look forward to hearing, and seeing more very soon.
