BBC iPlayer: TV downloads hit iPhone and Android
While you can watch BBC iPlayer quite easily on most smartphones today, you’ve only been able to stream them with an internet connection – you couldn’t download them in advance and watch them on the go, when signal can sometimes be patchy. That’s about to change though: starting today, you’ll be able to download Eastenders in advance and watch it on the commute.
Starting today on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, you can download shows from BBC iPlayer over Wi-Fi in advance (just add them to your download queue), and watch them whenever – you’ve got 30 days from download to play them. That means you’ll be able to take shows and films with you on the go, and even watch them on a plane journey.
How to get the new Android update now
An update to the BBC iPlayer Android app coming soon will also enable the same feature. Sadly, there’s no word on Windows Phone, which still lacks even a streaming option for Auntie’s on-demand service.
Still, if you’ve got an iOS device or supported Android phone, it’s an extra source of movies to take with you on your tablet next time you’ve got a journey to make.

Really... REALLY?! You've been able to do this with any programme on iPlayer on Nokia/Symbian for YEARS. Oh yeah, but that's right, Symbian is an unsophicated/out-of-date/dead OS... yeah that's right, I remember now. FTW.
