Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 11: Smart TV gets stylish too

The design gurus at Bang & Olufsen have certainly been busy lately. After outing a wireless speaker that looks like a satellite dish last week, they’re now back with their first ever telly that plugs into the internet. Say hello to the Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 11.

While the BeoVision 11 takes most of its design cues from the slick BeoVision 10 series, it’s much smarter. It connects to the net over Ethernet or Wi-Fi to let you surf the web, play videos from another wireless device like your PC or phone, or load up supported apps – initially, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Other catch up services are on the way.

How to turn any TV into a smart TV

You can boss the BeoVision 11 smart TV around from one of B&O’s barmy remote (The Beo4 and Beo6 are both supported), or from the BeoRemote app for iOS and Android devices, which makes typing out addresses much easier.

Brace yourself though: those skills don’t come cheap. The Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 11 LED TV is on sale today, but it’ll set you back a whopping £4,995 just for the smallest model: there are 40 inch, 46 inch and 55 inch models on the way, with silver, black and white colour options, plus your choice of one of six fabrics. Smart TV or car, smart TV or car? There’s a choice that doesn’t come along very often.
