Asus Transformer Pad Infinity priced and dated for UK

Here’s one of the tech calendar. The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity will arrive in the UK from 31st August, at a price of just shy of £600 for the 10.1-inch tablet. Read on for the lowdown on the tablet that transforms itself into a notebook using a detachable keyboard.

The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity is the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet and follows in the footsteps of the Google Nexus 7, which Asus built for Google.

Save the date: iPhone 5 out September 21st, mini iPad too?

Now solely under the Asus brand, the Transformer Pad Infinity brings some of that Android goodness to its this 10.1-inch version, including quad-core processor and full 1080p full HD video recording skills.

One of the highlights is the tablet’s ability to transform into a netbook. A full, detachable keyboard comes with a touchpad, USB and SD card ports. Docking the keyboard also extends its battery life. The Transformer Pad Infinity has a maximum, and rather impressive 14-hour battery life.

Other features to take note of include a rear 8-megapixel camera, as well as the option of 32GB or 64GB storage capacities.

The biggest obstacle facing the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity will be its £599.99 (inc. VAT) price – higher than the majority of new iPads, and the much cheaper Google Nexus 7 models.

But for the price you get a lot more storage than any of the Nexus 7 models, and the ability to use it as a netbook. The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity will be available to order online from Amazon from 31st August.

Would you choose an Asus Transformer Pad Infinity over an iPad?
