Asus PadFone 2 revealed: The tablet phone tag team returns!
Last week, Asus sent out invitations to journalists for the unveiling of its PadFone 2, the next tablet-with-a-phone-inside from the Taiwanese gadget gurus. That’s not scheduled until 16 October, but we’ve already got a sneak peek at what hardware to expect. Ready for the spoilers?
A tipster on the Mobile01 Forum has posted an alleged spec sheet for the Asus PadFone 2, and it looks tasty indeed. If correct, we can expect a tablet shell that’s powered by a 4.7-inch HD touchscreen phone, running the latest quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, a huge 2GB of memory and 13 megapixel camera, and even a 4G connection for super speeds wherever you go.
How to get the new Android update now
Those are impressive specs, but whether Asus can package them up into a compelling whole remains to be seen. The first PadFone, a 10.-1 inch tablet with an Android smartphone inside you could pop out to take on the go and make calls, was a bit of a flop, especially compared to Asus’ fantastic Transformer series of slate computers: it was overpriced and took a year to come to market after its first reveal. We’ll keep you posted: expect more news before 16 October.
