Asus outs giant new 3D screen: Is this a TV replacement?

Asus has a new display out today, and it’s a bit of a beast. The 27-inch monitor isn’t just any old PC display though: it’s an epic HD screen with the latest in 3D tech – and we’ve got all the details.

While the Asus VG27AH is a PC monitor on paper, it’s got all the tech you’d need to turn it into a full fledged entertainment centre. The 27-inch display packs in passive 3D tech and comes with glasses so you can watch back 3D video from the internet, a 3D Blu-ray player or a Sony PS3.

How to turn any TV into a smart TV

The display also uses IPS tech (yes, just like an iPad) which means ultra wide viewing angles of 178 degrees, so everyone can gather round and watch, and it uses edge LED to increase the contrast on screen, so you get blacker blacks and whiter whites at the same time.

There’s no price or release date for the Asus VG27AH just yet, but look for it in shops soon – we’ve dropped Asus a line and will let you know when the company gets back to us.
