Apple iPhone 5, iPad Mini rumoured for 21st September release date
The Apple iPhone 5 and Apple iPad Mini will land on store shelves on 21st September, new reports say. The rumour follows more allegedly leaked videos of the iPhone 5, as a September launch looks more and more likely.
Following reports from a French blog last week, new rumours this week indicate that the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini will land this September – the latter being a smaller, 7-inch version of Apple’s iPad.
Save the date: iPhone 5 out September 21st, iPad Mini, too
Unofficial Apple news site iMore says it “has learned that Apple is planning to debut the new iPhone and iPad Mini at a special event on Wednesday, September 12, 2012,” also going on to claim a release date nine days later on Friday, September 21.
Adding fuel to the rumours, AllThingsD, the the technology section of the Wall Street Journal also backs this up.
“Sources tell AllThingsD that Apple is currently planning an event for the week of September 9th, with Wednesday being the date on which it will likely be held,” the site reports.
Meanwhile videos allegedly showing factory housings of the iPhone 5 have leaked online, revealing a thinner iPhone with a two-tone colour design, and a new 19-pin dock connector to controversially render existing Apple accessories redundant unless an adapter is either purchased, or supplied with the new iPhone.
Apple has yet to confirm the rumours, but it’s looking increasingly likely that come September, the iPhone 5 will be in shops. Will you be queueing up to get one?

The point of an iPad mini is for people to have a 3G device that has a screen that's bigger than a smartphone. You have to remember that if the iPad mini has a 7-inch display, the iPod touches is only, what, roughly 3-inch? Also, the iPad has 3G (and 4G when it's available in the UK) so people can get a connection out and about.
