Angry Birds tops half a billion downloads

Angry Birds – the ridiculously popular bird-flinging mobile game – has topped 500 million downloads on multiple devices across the world. We’re not surprised, as we’re completely hooked ourselves, but the numbers are still staggering!

Developed by Rovio, the cute bird-themed game always looked like a hit in the making. Now 500 million downloads later, Angry Birds has cemented itself as a record-breaking mobile hit, that has recently found its way to PC and Mac.

“This is a fantastic landmark achievement for us, and we’re extremely delighted to see such an incredible amount of people enjoying our games,” Mikael Hed, chief executive of Rovio understandably boasted.

Over 266 billion levels have been played, and fans around the world have played a total of 200,000 years, says Rovio.
