Angry Birds take on the Empire with Star Wars crossover

Rovio, the brains behind Angry Birds, is taking the hit gaming series to a galaxy far, far away. That’s right: the inevitable Star Wars crossover is happening, and we’ve got all the details on it right here.

Rovio may have released its first follow in the Angry Birds universe last week, centred around the adorably dastardly green piggies, but it’s not stopping with the irate winged stars themselves. A teaser trailer posted online reveals an Angry Birds Star Wars is coming on 8 November, and one newspaper is reporting that it’ll be available for both iPhone and Android at launch.

Bad Piggies: Angry Birds sequel unleashed!

While we’re not sure if there’ll be any different gameplay mechanics to the hit Angry Birds Space, we do know that the cast will take on central roles in Lucas’ universe. According to leaked images, the red bird will feature as Luke, while Hans is played by the whizzy yellow bird, and C-3P0 by the egg laying white bird.

It may also come as no surprise to find that Angry Birds Star Wars merchandise is on the way too, including action figures, and a hilarious looking Jenga game, featuring a pig-like version of the Death Star.

A launch event for Angry Birds Star Wars is scheduled to take place in New York this afternoon, so stay tuned for more details, and may the force be with you.
