Amazon Kindle Touch for UK: pre-order now, out April 27th
Amazon has revealed that its Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G eReader will be coming to the UK on April 27th, featuring the Kindle’s most advanced E Ink display and multi-touch technology. Pre-orders are being taken now, so fans need to get in there fast. More details this way.
A UK launch date for the Amazon Kindle Touch and Amazon Kindle Touch 3G has been a long time coming. Those wanting to get their hands on either device will need to get their pre-order in ASAP. “Orders are prioritised on a first-come, first served basis”, says Amazon.
Google planning 7-inch Kindle competitor
Those who do should be getting their Kindle Touch or Kindle Touch 3G on April 27th, when the eReaders officially arrive in the UK. The Amazon Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G are specifically aimed at digital bookworms. Prices for the Kindle Touch start at £109. The Kindle Touch 3G costs £169.
The Amazon Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G both include multi-touch support and tech that makes them easy to use one-handed. Like previous Kindle eReaders they will feature an E Ink display. E Ink displays words on screen just like a real book, even in bright sunlight.
The Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G holds up to 3,000 books, and supports a range of audiobooks. The Kindle 3G features free 3G wireless for downloading books at any time and anywhere with no monthly or annual contracts.
So that’s the Amazon Kindle Touch and Amazon Kindle Touch 3G. But what about the Amazon Kindle Fire? Amazon has yet to announce whether UK shoppers will be able to get their hands on the Amazon Kindle Fire – a fully fledged, cheaper iPad competitor with full colour screen, games, and multimedia skills.
But for now, UK customers will at least be getting a new eReader to play with. Will you be pre-ordering the Amazon Kindle Touch or Kindle Touch 3G?

I don't really understand what the fuss is about or how this improves things significantly over the last (non-touch) model? On screen keyboard perhaps? But how often is that used in reality? Kindle Fire seems to me like the tablet everyone is waiting for, or at least everyone who hasn't with deeper pockets gone the iPad route. I know there are plenty of Android tablets out there, but these seem to appeal to a totally different audience. I can't see the Kindle Fire not selling in huge numbers in the UK to be honest.

This goes to show that Amazon's Kindle is gaining worldwide attention as a low cost tablet. I got my kindle fire last month and so far I'm loving every inch of it.
