Kindle surprise – more gadgets on the horizon?
Amazon is working on a whole new batch of Kindle-branded products, including MP3 and MP4 players. According to the New York Times, the retail giant is flexing its hardware muscle to bring follow-ups to the successful eBook reader to the party.
The newspaper has reported that Amazon is prototyping and testing some new Amazon gadgets, including PMPs and MP3 players. Talking of Amazon boss, Jeff Bezo, a member of staff claimed “Jeff’s original goal for the lab was to build a range of other devices. There was talk of music players and other electronics.”
Given Amazon’s catalogue of music and movies, an Amazon PMP or MP3 player could be a very attractive proposition indeed. Watch out iPod!
The worker went on to say that an Amazon smartphone “seemed out of reach,” but hasn’t been ruled out entirely. Watch this space for more news of Kindle treats as they’re made official.
