Acer forges ahead with Liquid Metal Acer's latest Android offering

Acer’s Liquid Metal smartphone has popped up a few times in the rumour mill in recent months, but now Acer has gone ahead and made its latest Android handset official.

The Liquid Metal – as the name implies – is solidly built, and is available in silver (stainless steel) or brown (chrome). A 3.6in multitouch display and a Qualcomm 800MHz chip should ensure the all-new Acer Breeze UI is both fast and accurate.

Acer claims its new interface helps make web browsing up to 10 times faster than on previous Liquid models, with 14.4Mbps HSDPA also playing a big part.

A series of LEDs on top of the device give instant notification of missed calls, an incoming message or the need to charge the battery, while an HD movie-capable 5-megapixel camera and Dolby Surround-loving audio lead an impressive spec on the multimedia front.

The two flavours of Acer Liquid Metal will go on sale for £299 SIM-free – contract deals have yet to be announced – and will be available in mid-November (brown) and early December (silver).
