A £49 iPod touch killer? Sign us up!

Well, what do we have here? British gadget firm Storage Options has a brand new media player slash tablet out today, and at 4.3-inches, it’s the perfect iPod touch killer. But what’s that? It costs just a fifth of the price? Where do we sign?

We’ve seen some impressive low price gadgets running Google’s Android operating system of late, including a £150 netbook, but the Scroll Pocket from Storage Options just about takes the biscuit – and the entire biscuit packet.

Watch our Google Nexus 7 video review now

For £49, you get a tiny tablet just 12mm thick running Android 4.0 so you can load up all your favourite apps and games. There’s 4GB of storage on board for all your media, which you can add another 32GB to with a micro SD card.

When you consider that the newest iPod touch, out very soon, costs upwards of £249, it starts to look remarkably tempting. Even if it doesn’t have access to Google’s Play app store, there are now alternatives including Amazon’s Kindle Appstore. Rest assured we’ll be hunting it down for a full review so stay tuned – in the meantime, the Scroll Pocket is available from the company’s website, Amazon and Dabs.com now.

What’s in a name? Amazon Kindle Fire HD vs Nook Hd vs Google Nexus 7

Not an iPod touch killer, double the thickness and 1/8 of the storage capacity. No iOS, cheaply built and not even the android market. Can't compare them really.

what do you mean hasn't got "android market" Google play is android market, it was updated about 6 months ago and is allot better than apple products, one that comes straight to my head is Bluetooth apple products can only Bluetooth to other apple products and as was described in one of the other comments apple slows down your pc

I just got a Scroll pocket pc for Christmas there an to be honest its not that great, its so slow some times I get angry with it an end up having to use my mobile phone(HTC Sensation XE Beats Audio Edition) the WiFi is terrible as it keeps loosing connection to my internet, the screen resolution is not that good either its does not even have HD BUT I suppose at £50 you get what you pay for an to be blunt its not a lot
