9-inch Amazon Kindle Fire on the way?
The Amazon Kindle Fire has yet to make its way to the UK, while those across the pond have been pawing the touchscreen media tablet and colour E-book reader for months. Whether the Amazon Kindle Fire gets a UK release remains to be seen. In the meantime it is believed that Amazon may be readying a larger 9-inch version to rival the likes of the Apple iPad 2 andSamsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The latest Amazon Kindle Fire rumours hail from across the Atlantic, where Pacific Crest analyst Chad Bartley has predicted that a 9-inch Amazon Kindle Fire could launch sometime in the middle of 2012,CNET reports.
iPad 3 to be unveiled next month
The Amazon Kindle Fire was seen as a major competitor to the dominant Apple iPad, but its 7-inch screen make the tablet more suited to those looking for a substitute, or alternative media device for the existing Amazon Kindle, for enjoying films, games and E-books. A fancy E-reader that plays games and movies, you could say.
It is however thought that a larger 9-inch version could tempt shoppers into making a difficult choice, especially since any 9-inch Amazon Kindle Fire tablet is likely to cost less than the iPad 3, rumoured to be launching next month. And the launch of an iPad 3 would mean that competitors, not just Amazon will need to step it up or risk losing customers persuaded to join the growing iPad army.
Whether gadget fans in the UK will get to see an Amazon Kindle Fire 9-inch is another story. A UK Amazon Kindle Fire release has been rumoured. There are plenty of reasons to want one: over 19 million movies, TV shows and digital books, free cloud storage for all Amazon content and streaming TV shows to name a few.
