Everything Everywhere, the umbrella company set up by T-Mobile and Orange has announced plans to launch 4G mobile connectivity in the UK this year to give kickstart 4G phone coverage with broadband-like internet speeds.
Subject to approval by governing body OfCom, the plan is to launch 4G across Britain, spelling faster internet speeds for smartphones and improved phone coverage.
“Everything Everywhere’s vision is to launch 4G for Britain as soon as possible, and the roll out of 3.5G HSPA+ and our 4G trials across Britain are major steps towards delivering on that promise” says Everything Everywhere CEO Olaf Swantee.

How soon? Everything Everywhere hopes for a 4G roll out before the end of the year, with initial trials taking place in Bristol in April. If all goes to plan we could soon see 4G broadband-like speeds sweeping the nation, possibly ahead of rival network O2, who also have 4G plans lined up.
Unlike in the US, there are no 4G-enabled phones, but with 4G set to arrive, that could all change, opening the gadget floodgates for 4G-equipped phones with breakneck internet speeds. It could be the best thing to happen to the UK tech scene this year.
What do you reckon, gadget fans? Excited about the possibility of owning a 4G smartphone?

OF COURSE they need to have the 4G network before the phones come out. The other way around would be like releasing a Hydrogen powered car to the UK before the Hydrogen refuelling stations had been setup! The phones already exist in other parts of the world. The reason they aren't released here is BECAUSE we have not network!

Orange & T-mobile have the worst reception i have ever experienced. I currently have an Iphone on orange and one on o2... i can only get a signal at a fraction of places compared to the O2 network. Because of this i will wait till o2 roll out their 4G network, orange - tmobile may be the first but my guess is that its not going to be the best!

The 4G system runs on a different frequency that is closer to what O2 and vodafone have. It will run at 800Mhz where currently it is 1800Mhz so that means better indoor coverage as well as better range so that means both T-mobile and Orange will have massive improvements to their coverage. This will mean that once this has rolled out fully there will be a completely different quality of service. Phones are out there that are capable but until there is a network to use it is pointless releasing them here just yet. having said that Apple are rumoured to be releasing a 4G iphone later this year so that will be the start of the revolution to 4G

4g-capable phones are already here, they have been since HTC's evo was launched. Most devices that carry an hspa+ capability or are LTE-ready pick up 4g on contact when the networks are available. To name but a few, we already have the newer galaxy phones like the note and nexus, the razr and as mentioned above, the atrix, which has been waiting for 4g since it was launched. Gutted that orange and T-Mobile are launching the first wave though, should be Vodafone and o2 so that people can actually USE 4g

Amazed that the Gadget Show can make such rudimentary errors lol. As for what network should have the service first is just as ludicrous. Sunny Southend has great T Mobile & Orange coverage so no worries here. 4g phones have been ready for the last couple of years unfortunately the networks are not. O2 have been testing in London with speeds of 80+mb working! Id like that at home ;) If we do get 4g this year whoop whoop! If not cant miss what we've never had ;)

I guess that to receive the credit loans from banks you should present a good reason. Nevertheless, one time I have got a consolidation loan, because I was willing to buy a bike.
