See the world in a new way
You might know the Gigapan technology best from the stunning panoramic shots of Barack Obama’a inaugural address. Thanks to this robotic camera mount and some nifty software, one of the most momentous occasions in recent history was captured in stunning detail, allowing you to see every single audience member, as well as pan round the scene in almost 360 degrees.
The Gigapan Epic Imager brings this tech to the mainstream – it automates the whole panoramic shot-taking process by allowing your common or garden digicam to be strapped in to its rotating dock, meaning no more stitching together of multiple shots, or standing around like a lemon trying to snap images that you think will match up.
The results are pretty stunning, as Jason and I found out this week, and what’s ever better is that there’s already a growing online Gigapan community for you to upload and share your panoramic masterpieces. This could well be the future of photography.
